Attack at Glasgow Airport

An SUV rammed into the main terminal building at the Glasgow Airport this morning causing a fire. Police apprehended two individuals involved in the incident.

The SUV exploded shortly after running into a security barrier. It is not clear if the vehicle had explosive material in it, or if the gas tank simply erupted after the impact.

The airport has since been evacuated and all flights suspended.

"I saw a Jeep Cherokee apparently as if it was trying to get right through the doors into the terminal building. There were flames coming out from underneath then some men appeared from in amongst the flames," an eyewitness told the BBC.
"The police ran over and the people started fighting with the police. I then heard what sounded like an explosion."
"A green Jeep was in the middle of the doorway burning. There was an Asian guy who was pulled out of the car by two police officers, who he was trying to fight off. They've got him on the ground," another eyewitness, Richard Gray, told the BBC."

It is not clear if this incident is related to the London car bombs, but it would not be unreasonable to suspect that the two events are tied together. If not, then it is equally possible that a copy cat attack has occurred.

A live view on Fox News showed a very large explosion. It would be difficult to believe that an explosion of that size was simply caused by a collision and gas tank explosion. It appears like a blast and charring is evident in about a 50 foot diameter.

More details will follow.
