Columbia University is standing firm on their invitation to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to address their students. The last time the Iranian President visited the US of A, he was also invited to speak at Columbia, but couldn't make the engagement because of security problems.Fortunately, Ahmadinejad won't be going anywhere near the WTC so he won't be able to pay his respects to the 19 hijackers.
It is disconcerting that Columbia is so eager to have a holocaust denying, terrorism inciting, free speech stomping, dictator speak at their campus. Perhaps they can book David Duke, Robert Mugabe, Bashar Assad, and Kim Jong Il in the next few months to round out the "teach in".
I wonder, if in 1936, the distinguished faculty at Columbia would have invited Adolf Hitler or Benito Mussolini. Why not go for Pol Pot too since he's still around.
I don't expect President Bush to get an invitation to speak however, because we all know that Bush is the real terrorist. (gag)
So let's analyze this for a second. Mr. Ahmadinejad is the strong man of a state ruled by theocrats. He is supporter of terrorism through Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad proxy armies. He is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan by supplying militants with weapons, training, and funding. He is an avowed denier of the Holocaust. He has imprisoned and killed journalists for being critical of the regime. His secret police have attacked and arrested students for staging pro-democracy pro-human rights demonstrations. He has called for the destruction of Israel, a UN recognized sovereign state. And he supports the subjugation of women to men.
Can Columbia really be called a place of higher learning?

Muslims Against Sharia condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the decision of Columbia University to provide a speaking venue for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Apparently letting Akbar Rafsanjani speak at the National Cathedral was not the height of American Dhimmitude, because providing a venue for the world's foremost anti-Semite, whose proclaimed goal is the destruction of the USA and Israel, definitely takes the cake. What is surprising is that we don't hear any complaints from Columbia alumni who should be ashamed of their silence.

Compare the Columbia University invite to the Iranian Hate-Filled Nutcase to the case of Larry Summers. He, as you recall made certain politically incorrect statements about women and science and had to resign from Harvard. He was recently disinvited from a regents dinner at the University of California.where he was going to speak as a result of a protest from some faculty members who found his views ‘repellant’. Prof. Maureen Stanton was ‘appalled and stunned’ that Summers was even invited.
So I guess we all can see the shameful irony here. Holocaust denier OK, but Summers’ view that there might be innate differences between men and women , well that is too dangerous to discuss so ban him. WTF???
