McCain Officially Clinches

Senator John McCain of Arizona has officially clinches the Republican nomination for President. After winning Ohio, Vermont, and Texas, McCain secured the 1,191 delegates needed to secure the nomination.

Mike Huckabee has indicated he will now concede (finally) to McCain. Whether he will endorse him is yet to be seen.

McCain has had a roller coaster ride to the nomination stretching back to 2000. Even early last fall, it was speculated McCain might have to drop out of the race because of a lack of money. But, he slimmed down his team, re-tooled, ran a steady campaign and now has victory.

McCain still has an uphill battle, he faces a tough fight against Obama or Hillary in the coming months. Even if he wins the Presidency, he'll probably have to contend with a Democrat controlled House and Senate. McCain has portrayed himself as a soldier since 2000, and he'll have plenty of fighting to do in the coming months.
